From research, a language emerges.
Brasílica grew out of the research process begun by André Madureira in the 1970s, in direct dialogue with manifestations, masters and practitioners of popular culture. At Balé Popular do Recife, research, documentation and artistic experience came together to shape a distinctive language of dance and creation.
Throughout this journey, movement, gesture, musicality, interpretation and stage presence were observed, organized and transmitted as part of a living heritage. The methodology has its own structure and training processes, preserved by the company and passed on across generations.
This public presentation shares its history, principles and cultural importance. Technical procedures, exercises, sequences, qualification content and internal materials remain preserved within Balé Popular do Recife.
Training
A structured learning process connecting body, rhythm, musicality, interpretation, gesture and stage presence.
Creation
Research becomes material for creation and artistic language while maintaining reference to and respect for the popular traditions that nourish it.
