From research, a language emerges.
The journey that would lead to the creation of Balé Popular do Recife began in 1976 with research conducted by André Madureira into Brazilian popular cultural traditions. In May 1977, this investigation took stage form with the birth of the company in Recife.
As visionary, researcher and creator, André structured the artistic language that became the foundation of the company's repertoire, training and identity. Across the decades, this knowledge has crossed generations, reached different regions of Brazil and circulated internationally.
